Intel® I219V Gigabit LAN controller - Driver Install Issue

By John Peck

I have Ubuntu Server 20.04 on bare metal, no VM. The installation stops dead at the network adapter selection screen and does not show the onboard gigabit Ethernet controller (Intel I219V Gigabit LAN controller).

Motherboard:

I am certain it is a driver issue, but as I am new and have a limited skill-set, I need a walkthrough for dummies. I was able to get internet access and finish the installation by installing an old wireless USB adapter so I can have connectivity and an up-to-date installation.

I need to figure out how to install the driver and then remove the wireless adapter and enable the Ethernet.

I used the "wget" command to download the tar file "e1000e" driver I think I need, but I'm falling short of completing my task.

Output from sudo modprobe e1000e and sudo dmesg | grep e100 :
